November 21, 2009 is Family Volunteer Day.
Family Volunteer Day is an annual day of service held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The purpose of Family Volunteer Day is to demonstrate how significantly families can impact their communities for the better when they volunteer together. Families that volunteer together not only help other families in their communities, but they also strengthen the bond they have with one another.
Disney & the HandsOn Network work very closely together to match volunteers with opportunities in which they can serve. In 2008, HandsOn volunteers dedicated more than 30 million hours of service valued at $615 million!
HandsOn Network has more than 250 HandsOn Action Centers. HandsOn Action Centers provide would-be volunteers with opportunities to work on various projects and programs in their own communities.
