
LIVESTRONG was founded by world-renowned cyclist, Lance Armstrong. At age 25 Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It was through this battle that LIVESTRONG was conceived.
Since its inception, LIVESTRONG has been instrumental in the fight against cancer by putting heavy emphasis on prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors and investment in research.
Most recent achievements:
The 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenge, considered LIVESTRONG's signature fundraising event, raised more than $10 million towards the fight against cancer! LIVESTRONG gives credit for the successful event to its 20,000 participants, thousands of volunteers and the support of their donors and sponsors.
LIVESTRONG just raised another $1.3 million! The money was raised at the It's About the Bike auction on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Sotheby's in New York, NY.
Featured at the auction were the seven bikes Lance Armstrong rode during in 2009 comeback. Among the bikes featured was Armstrong's famed Tour of California bike that had once been stolen.

The 2010 LIVESTRONG Challenge is coming up. You could walk, run, ride, volunteer or donate; any way you get involved aids in the fight against cancer. Registration opens December 1, 2009.
