“I guess I didn’t realize that I was actually uncomfortable,” recounts Lisa Ramsey, about her old manicures after her initial experience with the Rada Pro Manicure Station. For the better part of 7 years, every other week Lisa would sit across the small table from Raya Ionis at Raya’s nail salon in San Francisco’s Union Square. Lisa would stretch out her arms and hands for her manicure but never felt comfortable and relaxed until she rested her hand on the padded cushion of the Rada Pro Manicure Station. It positions nail clients’ hands 4 inches or so above the table top. The hand is fully supported and fingers angled down so the nail technician can reach them without straining. For the nail tech and her customer, the experience of a manicure with the Rada Pro nail station is an eye-opener.

Throughout her career, Raya, who has operated her own nail salon for more the three decades, did everything she could think of to make manicures easier on both sides of the table. “Most manicures require that the technician, as well as her client, assume an unnatural posture, with both of us extending our arms for most, if not all of the treatment,” she explains. Over the years, she tried raising her chair and lowering it; moving lights closer and further away, even trying new tools that promised to reduce strain. But it took another pair of eyes to see what she’d been missing.

David, Raya’s husband, a mechanical engineer, became accustomed to hearing his new wife complain of neck and wrist pain at the end of the work day. David came to realize that a free-standing support which elevated the client’s hands could help relieve the strain of working directly on the table top. With consultation from Raya, he designed the sleek and ergonomically correct Rada Pro Nail Station. It has a roomy polish holder, an insulated bowl, a non-skid base and soft removable terry cloth covers that are both sanitary and comfortable. Taking it one step further, David & Raya also designed a Nail Station for those of us who prefer to do our nails at home! www.radapro.com
