Police say one of Sowell's 11 victims has been identified through DNA evidence as Tonia Carmichael, 53, who disappeared nearly a year ago.   Her body was recovered buried in the back yard of Sowell's home.

Carmichael fit the profile of victims that Sowell targeted:  woman with drug or alcohol problems and criminal records, police said. Carmichael's criminal record dates back more than 30 years.    She was convicted in drug and theft cases.

Investigators say Sowell kept bodies in his living room, upstairs bedrooms, and in the crawl spaces of his home.  Shallow graves with victims were found in his basement and backyard.

Neighbors are questioning why the stench from Sowell's house didn't raise red flags with authorities earlier.   Sowell was a convicted rapist and registered sex offender.
