Like the now-wildly popular Guitar Hero franchise, Activision expects it to take some time for its new DJ Hero game to find ground in North America. According to IGN, the focus right now is getting consumers used to the idea of using an artificial turn table to mix real-world hits on a game console. Activision also recognizes that the new title won't take off as fast as recent additions to its other music-game series thanks to its relative obscurity among casual gamers.
The slow sales period shouldn't last long, however. With Christmas right around the corner and hype for the Guitar-Hero spin-off growing by the day. The latest release in that series (Guitar Hero 5) sold half a million copies last month, which is traditionally considered a 'slow' period for the software industry.
DJ Hero will be available in standard and 'Renegade' editions for the PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 on October 27th.
