Tuesday November 10th, 2009 - In the last 24 hours rumors have surfaced that the Montreal Impact could join the Vancouver Whitecaps and several other USL teams in the creation of a new professional North American soccer league in 2010. Several teams have confirmed their interest in this new league but Montreal Impact President Joey Saputo has clarified the situation by saying that he still has seven to ten days before he needs to make a final decision. Currently the Impact is still in talks with the USL First Division for 2010 but again nothing has been confirmed.

Earlier today the Vancouver Whitecaps posted a press release confirming that this new league will launch in spring 2010. The Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina Railhawks, Miami FC, Minnesota Thunder as well as St. Louis Soccer United have shows interest in participating in this new league.

Still undecided for 2010, Montreal Impact’s main goal still remains to join the MLS in 2011/2012.
