Pittsburgh, PA- Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009- A statue of the late Fred Rogers was dedicated at the "Tribute to Children" site in Pittsburgh's North Shore Riverfront Park. The creator of “Mister Rogers Neighborhood” was a pioneer of children’s television.
Presenters at the ceremony included Fred Rogers’ widow Joanne Rogers and David Newell who played the mailman character “Mr. McFeeley”.
“Mister Rogers Neighborhood” ran from 1967 to 2001. Fred Rogers died in 2003 of stomach cancer.
