Today, in LA, as a relative few (those who were lucky enough to get free tickets) attend the televised memorial for Michael Jackson at Staples Stadium, up to a million people, also coming to celebrate his creative genius, will be barred from the area. And an untold number of others will visit theaters across the country who plan to broadcast the memorial live and for free.

Not since the tragic and untimely death of Diana have we witnessed such a global reaction to the death of an iconic celebrity.

Yet, as unexpected as his death was, it's still his sad, lonely and tragic personal life story that haunts many.

Could Michael's life have been different?

Sure, but perhaps only if he had been born into a different family. Which leads you to wonder,  would there even have been a "Michael Jackson" and would he have possessed the same talent and genius without his tragic life's story?

Most astrologers believe that our soul not only picks the time and place of birth, but also the family we're born into. While most also believe a conscious and self-aware adult has a certain amount of freewill, clearly time, location and family of birth are not a matter of choice but are determined by a power that possesses a far greater knowing and understanding than we could ever hope to possess.

With this in mind, it seems best that we honor and praise the genius of Michael's professional life, while making no judgments about his personal life, yet, attempt to understand, through the lens of astrology, why it was, as it was.

Astrologers remember Michael Jackson: update

At the time of Michael's death I directed readers in Astrologers remember Michael Jackson with some of the first and best blogs to cover his sudden departure. Since that time more in-depth analysis has been published.

On celebrityastrologyblog.com young astrologer Nick Dagan Best has a long, serious article in which he retraces Michael's life and death astrologically.

Michael Jackson Dies: A Jupiter-Neptune Life

A figure of mystery and controversy, a man perpetually chasing his lost childhood, Jackson’s’ peculiar and utterly unique life embodied American culture’s desperation to stay relevant, interesting and at the center of attention. An immensely gifted singer, dancer, songwriter and businessman, Jackson’s talent and ambition led him and his family out of poverty and into royalty status, but at the eventual expense of his well-being.
Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29, 1958, probably around midnight, with a natal horoscope that (regardless of his birth time) includes a three-part conjunction, connecting the North Node and Jupiter in Libra with Neptune in Scorpio, signifying his larger-than-life imagination and mythology, and the ability to express creative ideas on a universal level.

The cross-sign connection being a reflection of the double-edged consequences of Jackson’s unique ability to detach himself from reality, a quality that ironically underlined both his superhuman talent and vision, and the ominous and puzzling accounts of scandal in his adult years. Read more

On astroinquiry.com astrologer Frederick Woodruff has written two of the finest astro breakdowns of Michael Jackson, showing an amazingly understanding of Michael as a universal legend.

Michael Jackson Has Left The Building
June 26th, 2009

And then there was Michael’s sensitive, Peter Pan-like, musically inclined Pisces moon. Distanced by opposition, far away from his Pluto problem. Oppositions are generally split in two by the psyche; where we side with one planet over the other. And Michael’s identification with ‘never growing up’ and ’saving the children of the world’ became his identity of choice. Though occasionally Michael would find ways to merge and express the Moon Pluto opposition. Not surprisingly it was the song Thriller, with its ghoul-infested video, that marked his ascendancy; becoming the biggest selling recording artist of all time. A very Plutocratic sort of pop culture dominion. All set in motion by bringing the dark, unsavory elements of horror and death — favorite Pluto themes — out onto every dance floor across the globe. Brilliant.” Read more

Michael’s Mad Dream: A Pluto-Maniacal Mutation
July 5th, 2009

Michael Jackson, as I've noted earlier, was a Sun conjunct Pluto Virgo. Unless given almost shamanic-like life training, Sun Pluto individuals approach existence from an impetus that most of us can barely fathom. And if we can't understand it, imagine what it must be like for them to actually live it.

When Pluto's aura veils any of the personal planets, especially by conjunction or opposition, the individual becomes an accessory to deviant dreams and obsessional compulsions. Phobic of death, covetous of power, and awed by the sort of concentrated mega-wealth that's usually associated with organized crime (Plutocrats anyone?), society just doesn't know what to do when Pluto rears his head and begins infecting what should be, in the Sun's case, the direct expression of one's being-ness, one's existence and the search for his or her vocation. With Pluto riding the Sun's beams we have -- well -- Michael Jackson was a larger than life example of a Virgo Sun gone Pluto-maniacal. Read on

The man, Michael Jackson, will live on till the end of time in his astounding body of work. And we can hope and have faith that his Spirit is now joyously freed from the confines of this earthly life.
