
Mountain High resort in Wrightwood, California, is kicking off the 2009/10 winter season at 9am tomorrow, October 29, 2009. According to Mountain High this is the resort’s “earliest opening ever on machine made snow.” The resort will open for season pass holders only on Thursday. Skiing and snowboarding will be available to the general public beginning Friday, October 30.
Up to two lifts (Blue Ridge Express and Roadrunner) will operate at the West resort servicing a six-inch base of machine made snow. Three runs will be open offering beginner and intermediate terrain. The Faultline Terrain Park will include up to ten park features.
Although cold temperatures have brought great snowmaking conditions to Mountain High, the resort expects that it will only remain open through Sunday.
Operating hours (October 29-November 1, 2009)
Thursday - 9am to 5pm
Friday - 8:30am to 10pm
Saturday - 8am to 10pm
Sunday - 8am to 4pm
Beginning Friday, early season lift tickets will be $25 for children ages 7-12, $30 for night tickets (5pm to 10pm), $35 for 4-hour tickets, and $40 for 8-hour tickets. Prices are subject to change.
Rental equipment, repair services, and food and beverage will be available at the resort. Winter Sports School will begin lessons once the necessary beginner terrain is open.
