We've all been there. We've sat through the slideshow of baby photos. We've watched both mom's break down in tears. We've seen them try to light the unity candle. We've heard the blessings, maybe a curse or two. Now it's time to sit through the ultra sappy "first dance" of our newly married friends. Why do these songs last twenty minutes? You know you can't hit the bar, the dance floor, or the exit until it's over. That's just tacky. So we sit through a hideous "waltz" or a teary-eyed stumble round the room patiently, these are our friends after all. Or friends of our date, or some cousin you met once at a reunion. No matter.
When the dance FINALLY finishes, awkward dancing ensues, the braver couples moving to the dance floor, and the rest beeline for the bar.
Receptions should be awesome parties, not High Tea with Cinderella. These folks get it right. They break the monotony, the ice, and buzz records. THIS is how you do a first dance, and it is catching on - more examples in the info box!
