On May 21, 2008 the world as these girls knew it, fell irrevocably apart.
Their Idol . . . the one they made T-shirts for, voted for relentlessly, and defended adamantly, solidly, and unabashedly . . . was defeated. America had voted, and America had rejected their most deeply held beliefs, their hearts' fondest wishes, and all the dreaminess that was David Archuleta.
Highlights:
The girl in bright pink at the foreground is a classic study in melodrama. Watch as she subtly looks for clues from her friends as to how to react. I think her "F AMERICAN IDOL!" is my absolute favorite moment.
The clear leader of the pack: tall, blonde, white t-shirt. "How could you vote for him? He doesn't even SHAAAAAAAAAAAAVE!!" That with the sobbing at the end . . . start therapy now, perhaps??
The mother who makes her appearance at the end. "Oh but honey, look, DAVID isn't crying!!" Seriously, mom? That's the best ya got? My mother would have flipped the channel over to Sally Struthers begging for money for starving children and said "Now then, cry. Cry your friggin eyes out."
And the cherry on top: "Oh God, I can't go back to school!! I bet FIFTY DOLLARS!! I don't even HAVE fifty dollars!!"
