2008-09 Season Series (Tied at 1-1)

Nov 9th- Jazz- 99 at Knicks-107

March 30th- Knicks-104 at Jazz-112

The New York Knicks will look to bounce back from a horrific weekend and try to end a three game losing streak when they play host to the Utah Jazz on Monday night. The Jazz coming into the Garden is something the Knicks might need to get back to winning. New York has won the last five games at home against the Jazz which included last season's 107-99 victory over them.   New York outscored Utah 58-35 in the second half to turn a 54-49 halftime deficit into the final score. Chris Duhon scored 14
points and dished out five assists with no turnovers in the second half, to cap off a 16-point, nine-assist performance.

After a big win over the New Orleans Hornets last Monday night, the Knicks season has once again gone south. They played well for three quarters before collapsing big time in the fouth over a mediocre Indiana Pacers team. After getting blwon out at home by LeBron James and the Cavs on Friday night, the Knicks put an even miserable performance the next night.

New York gave up 40 points in the first quarter of a 102-87 loss at Milwaukee on Saturday, trailing by 31 at halftime and looked like a junior varsity team compared to the Bucks. The BUCKS!!!! They were not playing one of the elite teams but a team that may very well be in the lottery. It's only a matter of time before the Knick fans just give up on the season. Their defense is little to non existent which makes it tough for fans to watch.

They have allowed at least 100 points in each of their seven games, with opponents shooting 49.8 percent from the field - among the worst in the NBA. It was a total team collapse as no one had anything good to contribute. Chris Duhon was benched after going 0 of 4 and scoring one point, while Wilson Chandler and Al Harrington combined to shoot 2 of 17 and score eight points. Harrington saw a decrease in his minutes as well as he has struggled mightly shooting the ball.

The only positive that can come from this is increased playing time for the two rookies on the roster. Jordan Hill played the most minutes in a game so far in his short career. He played well in his 13 minutes of duty scoring seven points, six rebounds, and three steals. Tony Dougals had a career high in points scoring 16.

The Knicks will play a Jazz team that while has not struggled on the Knicks level, are struggling none the less. The Jazz open a four game road trip tonight in New York and are coming off an embarrasing home loss to the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night, 104-99. It was a loss that seem to make little sense for a team that went 33-8 at home last season.

The Jazz were heading into that game coming off a huge win over the Spurs on Thursday night. But an inexcusable thrid quarter that saw them get outscored 30-13 and allow the Kings to shoot 11 of 19 from the three point range.

They loss despite an all star performance from their point guard, Deron Williams. Williams scored 29 points and had 15 assists as well. Last season, the Jazz started 5-0 with Willaims sidelines with an injury. But things have not started as smoothly this season and they have everyone healthy. Utah, already 0-2 on the road, now embarks on a  four game trip that includes games at Eastern Conference powers Boston and Cleveland.
