Knicks won last year's Season Series 2-1

Jan 2nd- Pacers-105 at  Knicks-103

Jan 31st- Knicks-122 at Pacers-113

Feb 23rd- Pacers-119 at Knicks-123

The New York Knicks look to build of their first win of the season tonight when they host the Indiana Pacers. It's the first of four meeting between the teams and the third of a four game homestand for New York.

They will face an Indiana team that is searching for their first win of the season. They are coming off a dismal home performance last night when they were blown out by the Denver Nuggets 111-93. It was a forgettable shooting night for Indiana as they shot only 39 percent from the floor, including a horrendous 3-22 from beyond the arc. The loss dropped the Pacers to 0-3 and are looking to avoid their first 0-4 start since the 1988-89 season when they started 0-9.

Getting their first win might a little bit more difficult as they might be without their starting forward/center Troy Murphy, who injured his lower back after falling hard to the floor in last night's game against the Nuggets. So far this year, Murphy has averaged 8.7 points and 9.7 rebounds. In losing him, the pacers will also lose their best three point shooter. He was third in the NBA last season in three point percentage with 45 percent.

Meanwhile, the Knicks look to continue their strong play from Monday night when they defeated a very good New Orleans Hornets team 117-111 on Monday night. David Lee led the way with 28 points while Larry Hughes played a key role in the win as he started for the first time all season. He rewarded Coach D'Antoni with a strong first quarter scoring eight of his 20 points in the opening and holding Chris Paul to three points in the first half en route to the win.

One of the other key lineup changes Coach D'Antoni has made is bringing Al Harrington off the bench. So far, Harrington has relished the role as the 6th man in the last two games. He has averaged 33 points and has shot an excellent 24-44 from the field. By bringing Harrington off the bench, they have been able to better utilize speed in the starting lineup by putting Hughes at the 2 guard spot instead of Wilson Chandler. Chandler was moved to the 4 spot the other night against the Hornets and the result was quite successful.

For the Knicks to win tonight, they have to focus on stopping Pacers forward, Danny Granger. In the two games Granger played against the Knicks last year, he averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. so far this year, he has been their best player averaging 23 points a game while picking up 1.3 steals.

The Knicks will once again be without Nate Robinson who really shined in three games against the Pacers last season. He averaged 17.7 points, including a 41 point night off the bench back on Feb 23, in those three games. Al Harrington was a real beast against his former club last year as well. He averaged 28.3 points in three meetings against them last season.
