Crescent Crown Distributing  is the distributor for Stone Brewing Company's "West Coast" style beers here in Louisiana.   Their first shipment of Stone's craft beer disappeared off the shelves as fast as the retailers could stock it.  Who knew that Louisiana was so thirsty for great American craft beer, especially "West Coast" beers, which tend to be bigger and hoppier than those we're used to drinking.

After the beer tasting at Marcello's Wine Market, we now know why the beers are so popular here in the Bayou State.  These superbly crafted beers are fresh and clean with lots of resiny and piney hop flavors balanced with a nice malt and caramel background.    Even the "Arrogant Bastard" wasn't as pompous as first predicted.  It was a very approachable beer that many beer enthusiasts in Lafayette will enjoy drinking.

Interest in Stone's beer is growing.  Kelli Stegman, the general manager for The Green Room (a very popular bar in downtown Lafayette) was at the tasting to see for herself what all the excitement was all about.  The Green Room has 6 pool tables, 3 shuffleboard tables, foosball, an internet jukebox, 4 huge hi-def flat screens, free wireless internet, and lots and lots of great craft beer.  Stop by and tell them you learned about them on Examiner.com and look for Stone's offerings among their other fine craft beers soon.  Support the establishments that are working to bring you a choice other than "the same old beers."

All we have to do now is wait for the next shipment to get to Louisiana.  Demand was so high that many retailers sold out quickly.  But rest assured, now that Crescent Crown Distributing knows you like Stone's line-up, they will make sure we get plenty next time around.

What's next on the horizon?  Well, some exciting news for all you craft beer enthusiasts.  Sam Adam's new "Imperial Series" is headed to Lafayette.  Sam Adams is once again answering drinkers’ call for bigger, more intense craft brews with the Samuel Adams Imperial Series.  With more robust and complex flavors and nearly twice the alcohol by volume of your average beer, each style in the Imperial Series is intended to be savored and appreciated like a fine wine.  Look for Sam Adams Doppelbock (called Double Bock), Sam Adams Imperial White (a witbier on steriods), and Sam Adams Imperial Stout.  Just because the brewery is big doesn't mean they can't brew great craft beer.  They are one of the most innovative and quality conscious breweries in the US and are on the cutting edge of the craft beer movement in America.
