Father Peter Dougherty, a Catholic priest, is one of the men I respect most in the Lansing area. I met him at a local homeless shelter in the late 1980s where we both volunteered. We don't socialize but we bump into each other in various community circles every now and then. A man of God, a peace activist, a musician and brother to everyone, I admire this man. He stands up and fights for what he believes is right in the eyes of God. He is one of the few men who I can say truly sees the Christ in all of us. He is a man of peace. Gandhi would’ve been proud of him.

May he live long that he may continue to extend the light of God wherever his path takes him.
