After nine years of waiting, the streets were packed from corner to corner as hundreds of thousands of fans came into New York City to celebrate the Yankees 27th World Series win. Starting in Battery Park, the celebratory ticker-tape parade ran up the Canyon of Heroes with all the players and their families waving to the crowd. The procession culminated with Mayor Bloomberg presenting keys to the city to all the players on the team as Yankee greats Yogi Berra and Reggie Jackson watched on.
If you didn't get there early, you most likely watched on a big screen set up in the area of City Hall Park as the streets leading up to the main parade route on Broadway were closed. Despite this Yankee fans weren't phased, cheering as players' faces flashed on the screen, vowing to get to the parade earlier next year when they win their 28th.
