More and more people in America are becoming overweight, or what the media would consider overweight. However, there are women, both normal and famous, who are standing up to say that bigger is better! In fact, Hollywood is embracing actresses that are "curvy" to host in some spectacular movies and TV shows. Actresses like Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy), or Brooke Elliot (of Drop Dead Diva), Queen Latifah, and America Ferrera are curvy and proud to show what they have to offer!
America Ferrera is quoted as saying "Starving yourself isn't beautiful." Ask yourself, who in this world decided that to be beautiful that you had to fit into a size zero? Even Dove and Walmart agree that self-esteem, and seeing beauty in imperfections is very important. They are hosting a campaign to teach young women to have high self-esteem and that self acceptance is the most beautiful thing a woman has in her arsenal. Even the show Drop Dead Diva, according to Brooke Elliot, tries to show that beauty can be found everywhere, in every body type. Katie Arons wrote a book called "Sexy at Any Size," in this book she talks about how to be confident, be sexy, what clothes to wear, and even how to get the man of your dreams without saying a single thing about dieting or weight loss.
Clothing stores are starting to expand their plus size sections to appease these self-confident women who simply are not satisfied wearing floral spandex, there are even stores specifically for larger women, both lingerie and regular clothing. There is a high demand in Indiana for BBW, or Big Beautiful Women, support groups and gathering places. Many women simply want to show that they are just as beautiful as the models men drool over. Accordingly, men are becoming more attracted to plus size women, realizing that they have as much love to offer as anyone else, if not more!
