I say, uh, I say it's Foghorn Leghorn

Law enforcement officials in Eagle County have seized just under 10 birds they suspect were being groomed for cockfighting, reports said Thursday.

Though ownership of the birds has yet to be determined, Eagle County deputies say the birds' combs and wattles had been cut - a common treatment for birds entered in cock-fighting contests, which are illegal in Colorado.

Investigators say they don't believe fights were taking place at the home where the caged birds were found, but they are aware of fights having taken place in other areas of the county.

The birds are now being cared for at the Eagle Valley Humane Society.

Cock-fighting - and animal fighting of any kind - is disgusting. I don't know how it could be "fun"  or "exciting" to watch two living beings try to kill each other.

But then again, isn't that sort of what boxing and Ultimate Fighting are all about?

I don't understand what's "cool" about watching people or animals beat one another bloody.

Is it exciting because of the money people wager on such events?

Or is it the guessing game of which guy - or bird or dog - is going to buy the farm first?

I think it's creepy. I hope the deputies can catch the culprits and break up that cock fighting ring.
