Police in Salida are investigating the theft of hundreds of dollars in fireworks being sold as a fundraiser for a church in the small southern Colorado town.

According to reports, police believe the thieves gained access to the fireworks stand - set up in a parking lot of a closed-down discount store - by using bolt-cutters.

All religion-related opinions aside, stealing fireworks meant to raise money for a church, a place where people find solace and peace, is pretty stinkin' low.

I hope these thieves are stupid enough to set off the fireworks in town, so they get caught.

I wonder how long it will take them to write "busted" in the night sky, with a sparkler.
