Crimes come in all sort of forms.
Whenever a person is victimized, that person is usually able to speak for themselves and tell the events of what has happened to them.
What happens when a horrific crime has happened to one who can offer nothing more than, say, a bark or a meow?
That is where these guys come in.
On Thursday of this week, Suffolk County SPCA was alerted to animal mistreatment at a Selden, Long Island home by a group of seemingly unlikely animal advocates. (http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/animals-taken-from-selden-house-after-tip-from-rescue-group-1.1569973)
These animal advocates are members of Long Island's Rescue Ink- truly a group of big guys with big hearts, who advocate for the often voiceless victims of our society.
This non-profit organization is composed of muscled, tattooed, tough guys committed to fighting the crime of animal abuse throughout the Tri-State area.
Rescue Ink members have their own unique approach to ending animal abuse. This often involves "visiting" the animal abusers, and confronting them about the issue, law-abidingly. The group has also helped people unable to care for their animals, by making sure that the animals get food and water.
Members of Rescue Ink are the subject of the reality television series, "Rescue Ink Unleashed", on the National Geographic Channel. Members of the group were also featured on ABC's "Good Morning, America", as well as in a photo-article for PEOPLE Magazine.
Animal abuse is a very serious crime, and this organization is taking steps towards addressing the problem.
Animal abusers, think twice. Or they may soon show up at your door.
