Everyone knows how frustrating it is to be in the kitchen making dinner when you are trying to watch something on TV, and the commercial breaks are always timed inconveniently so that when you need to be in the kitchen, your show is playing. Also, when entertaining in the home there is always someone stuck in the kitchen away from their own gathering. For those of us who grew sick and tired of these scenarios a long time ago, we have placed TV’s in the kitchen, in some awkward place that always seems to be in the way.

A new technology from Siemens, a German Appliance Company, featured at the Las Vegas Kitchen and Bath Industry Show, has introduced a new way to have a television in the kitchen where it does not interfere with daily kitchen activities. Siemens Company recently introduced a 17” Hi-Res LCD Television screen into the chimney hood in the kitchen. The Avantgarde Multimedia Chimney Hood, which is expected to be available for retail sale by late next year (2010), features a DVD/CD player, TV-Tuner, and PC inputs built right in. The unit also comes with an operational battery powered remote control.
This incredible technology allows direct computer hook up so that if DVD’s, CD’s, and the TV-Tuner are not desired, the user can surf the internet and/or display recipes on the LCD screen over the oven to aid the main cook.
Now, there is no reason to miss a single second of a favorite TV show while in the kitchen. Also while entertaining guests, whoever is stuck in the kitchen can have some entertainment of their own, which is sure to liven up the gathering and draw people into the kitchen. With this new technology, it will serve not only as a multimedia unit, but it will become a topic of discussion for any guest that drops by.
