If you are like most Americans today, you are probably answering ‘no’ to this question or even replying, ‘for the moment’. No matter who you talk to, whether they live in a small town or a big city, the answer is usually the same, we are all afraid. While major corporations have the benefit of taking our tax dollars courtesy of our government, we the people have no one to bail us out.
It is unbelievable to the majority of us that corporations like GMC and Chrysler have received hundreds of billions of dollars of what is technically our money and yet they are still crying for more. Of course with their advertising focused on knocking other car manufacturers and on trying to convince us that they are the best value (you’ve got to laugh), they apparently have more important things to do with our hard earned dollar then actually produce what they are claiming. Not to mention, if you take the small fact that any one of us could have started a car manufacturing company from scratch with the kind of money they received as bail outs, and made it work, it is ridiculous to even conceive these big boys couldn’t. They already have the factories and machines in place, which saves them a small fortune and it wouldn’t be too hard, even though they will tell you otherwise, to have converted these plants to produce real hybrid cars. Is it really a proud day for a car maker to produce an ad for television bragging about their gas mileage when it is only one to four miles more to the gallon than a competitors? And whatever happened to the real hybrids? You know the ones that are supposed to run off of something other than fossil fuels, where are they?
Since the ‘70’s each of the American car makers have dabbled in electric cars and have had successful prototypes which have never been brought to the public, even though they’ve been shown in numerous auto shows. With the earth suffering the ignorance of mankind enough already to be a threat back to us, why are we not seeing these cars? Of course with the car makers, as well as major banks and other top corporations stealing our money right from under us, you have to ask another important question, where is their thanks.
Everyday millions of people are jumping through hoops and wracking their brains to gain the attention of employers. Yet they are not even shown the courtesy of a thank you or even a reply that they have received their resume. Through e-mails, fans are constantly mentioning how they are happy to have finally found a job just to tell me months later that they were laid off once again and now ineligible for unemployment because they were not on the job long enough.
It’s bad enough utility companies like the one’s here in Indiana are price gouging customers for an absolute necessity such as gas for heat and electricity. Let alone getting them to explain why we are paying for a delivery charge or get charged an extra six dollars if we want to pay a bill over the phone which is a benefit to them. Of course Bank of America charges fifteen dollars extra for you to try and get them their money quicker by using the phone. Then you hear their CEO’s on the news later saying he has no idea why they are losing customers, gee I wonder. Of course I’m still waiting on a reply from three State Senators in regards to where an American can go to get a grant for a small business and its been four months now.
I’m not sure what experts and analysts are saying and to tell you the truth I don’t care since they live in the same special reality as politicians. My info comes from people like you, Americans, who are looking for work, wondering why our car makers cannot show any appreciation and make a car we can afford, wondering why our government is still bailing out the rich instead of this countries worker and trying to scrape enough money together to make our next house payment. It’s time for a change, President Obama had that part right, of course now it seems like the average American is the one who is going to have to initiate it. It is time to shun the big corporations and embrace the small companies who actually appreciate and need our business. We need to quit looking to find work from an industry that doesn’t care about its workers and form new ones that do. It is time for this country to live up to its name and join together as one, rebuild the business world from the ground up with new companies that embrace their workers like family. It is time to put the “UNITED” back into the United States of America. Let’s raise our voices to those who have shunned us long enough, stop buying their products and support the real American businesses-Ours!
May God grace you with a glance in your time of need,
