The Lowell Humane Society will be hosting a Kitten Shower on Saturday, April 25, 2009, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Spring is a time of renewal, growth and...kittens. Hundreds of them seeking a loving, responsible owner who's willing to provide a safe home, healthy food, regular veterinary care and love for the next 14-18 years (on average).

Attend the Lowell Humane Society's Kitten Shower

In 2008, the Lowell Humane Society received and placed more than 650 kittens and young cats in new, loving homes. In preparation for the hundreds of kittens that are sure to come through the animal shelter doors, the Lowell Humane Society is hosting a Kitten Shower to "prepare for the 2009 Kitten Season and the many nursing mothers, bottle fed and orphaned kittens" that will enter the organization's care in 2009.

The Lowell Humane Society's Kitten Shower will take place at 1:00 p.m. Attendees can expect to get some wonderful tips on pet care, while enjoying light refreshments.

Like any good shower guest, attendees are asked to bring along a shower gift. The Lowell Humane Society is registered with Amazon.com. Visit Amazon.com's Wish List section and type in "Lowell Humane" to view the organization's list of most-needed items.

...And Stay for the Pet Foster Care Program Orientation!

Following the Kitten Shower event will be an orientation for animal lovers who are interested in learning more about joining the humane organization's Pet Foster Care Program.

The orientation will begin at 2:00 p.m.

About the Lowell Humane Society

Established in 1873, the Lowell Humane Society serves the Merrimack Valley region, located north of Boston. The non-profit organization's mission is this: "...Preventing cruelty to animals, providing care for homeless and distressed animals and educating the public about responsible pet ownership."

The Lowell Humane Society's Merrimack Valley Animal Shelter sees more than 3,000 homeless pets each year. Services include accepting surrendered and homeless pets, which are then placed in loving homes; humane education and promoting responsible pet ownership; along with providing lost and found services designed to reunite lost pets with their owners.

The Lowell Humane Society's Merrimack Valley Animal Shelter is located at 951 Broadway Street in Lowell. Call the animal shelter at 978-452-7781.

The animal shelter's hours of operation are:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday - 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday - 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Closed Monday, Friday and Holidays
