As October gave way to November, the pre-holiday season has begun.  (The holiday season referring to the period from Thanksgiving to New Year's.)  Which may mean holiday guests, both expected and unexpected.  For some pets these visitors can be a source of anxiety and excitement.

Luckily, my cats both love new people, and relish the attention cast upon them by all the unusual faces.  But that doesn't always mean that those people want to give them attention, either.

Getting everyone ready is the best way to ensure the most pleasant visit for all involved.

If your cats get nervous around strangers or if your cats love visitors, but your visitors might not love your cats, the best thing may be to shut them in a comfortable room for the duration of the visit or the party.  If this is the best route for your cats, provide them with a litter box, water, food and possibly treats and some toys to keep them occupied for their stay.

To make your cats slightly less annoying to visitors make sure you brush them and clip their claws regularly.  There's nothing worse than stopping by someone's house and becoming covered in fur or getting a scratch.

And don't forget to get your cats a Holiday gift, mine love catnip and Temptations treats!
