If you're in the process of adapting to a gluten-free diet, you're bound to have a few cravings - particularly for bread! And if you're a former pizza lover, it can be an especially difficult comfort food to give up. And wouldn't you just love to wash it down with a cold one? Well, you still can! And you don't have to go to a specialty food store to pick up a frozen gluten-free pizza either. Next time your friends suggest heading out for pizza and beer, suggest Uno Chicago Grill (There are several locations throughout Baltimore). The restaurant offers an online menu to help you sort out your gluten-free options as well as nutritional information. Check out the pizza options online with gluten-free crusts. My friend and I split the Veggie Pizza on the gluten-free crust at the Columbia location. The pizza was pretty good, it tasted like a thin crust and had quite a bounty of veggie toppings. But what's this missing? Oh yeah, a cold beer. Well, don't worry. The restaurants also offer a gluten-free beer option - Redbridge. The brew is a  full-bodied lager free of wheat and barley.

It was great to get out an enjoy an easy, worry-free meal with friends, though as with many gluten-free products, you're going to pay for it. The pizza was a little more than I would like to pay for a smaller pizza - $11.50 - but I'm willing to fork out a couple extra bucks in a place that is so accommodating to a special needs diet. It was a simple ordering process and for once I didn't feel like I was annoying the waitress by listing off all of my dietary restrictions.

So next time your friends wanna head out for bite, remember there are always places like Uno that aim to make your dining experience a bit easier!
