Paradigm shift:  Ahead was chronological not geographical.

We are knee deep in health care reform bravado, banter, and bickering and I must ask, where did all the stimulus money go?  Where did it go?  Where are all the jobs saved or created?

This past week, I was finally able to exclaim Hallelujah!

As I drove the one hundred miles from Oklahoma’s Spaceport—also known as Burns Flat—to Will Rogers World Airport, my eyes were opened.  No road construction was being done, but for the fourth month in a row, orange cones and new signs announcing road work ahead lined the interstate for most of the drive.

I slowed to the mandated 60 or 55 miles per hour even though both lanes were open, no workers were present, and no signs of work to be done were anywhere in sight.  Then came my epiphany.  I had to shift the paradigm that I had driven with for 30 years.  Road work ahead was not a geographical warning but a chronological warning.

Yes road work was coming, perhaps in a month, a year, or a decade.  The economic stimulus was for the road signage and marking industry.  Here is an inside tip for the ultra savvy investor (please don’t let this out).  The next big economic boom will be tied to the health care industry and we can get in on it.

Once new legislation is enacted, consider the signage demand for clinics and hospitals.  Have you ever been to Disney World, Six Flags, or Universal?  Do you remember the long lines?  Fortuneately along those lines, someone had the foresight to place signs that read, “1 Hour from this point, 30 minutes from this point, etc.”  That’s where the money will be spent in health care reform—in new signage.  Consider the demand for the following signs that might read, your wait time is:

30 days from this point

1 month from this point

1 year from this point

1 decade from this point

And for for those with difficulty in estimating which sign to buy,

Your wait time from here:
Good Luck With That

My prayer is that we will use all appropriated funds wisely and for the good of the nation, that our leaders put their selfish natures aside and work together to tackle our problems, and we as a people return to God and discard our entitlement mentality.

While I’m waiting for the nation to join in this prayer, I’m finding a signage company to invest in!

What do you call a guy with degrees in Political Science and Biblical Studies? What do you call someone that served as a Marine Officer for over 20 years and now pastors a church?  What do you call someone with this unique perspective of the kingdom of the world and the kingdom of God?

Most folks just call me Tom.
