November 11th is D-Day for the inhabitants of Azeroth, as they must merge their login information to a Battle.net account or they will be unable to login to the World of Warcraft. Players will have to exchange their longtime account login names for their email addresses as part of this move which, according to Blizzard, will help to enhance account security.
The process involves re-entering a player's personal information into the Battle.net form, which then compares itself with the existing information that Blizzard has on file and then merges the two accounts. Benefits from this merger include a free in-game pet, beta opt-ins for multiple Blizzard games, and added security in the form of the Blizzard authenticator, which gives a gamer a USB fob that encrypts a unique code to the account necessary for login.
After November 11th, players who have not merged their accounts will unable to login until they have merged their existing Warcraft account. The process of merging accounts takes an estimated 5-10 minutes, is free of charge, and ultimately results in a new account login and password.
