There is a famous quote that says, "There is no bad day that can't be overcome by listening to music. This is just truth, plain and simple."
This being a "Health and Happiness" article, it seems appropriate to bring a little music into the mix. Surely there will be a lot of noise this Saturday, from the happy shrieks of little ghouls and goblins, to the inevitably less-than-happy wails that accompany most sugar crashes. But if you're looking for a fantastic way to fill the afternoon, think about heading down to Centerville High School.
The Elks will once again be hosting a statewide battle of the high school bands, The Centerville Invitational. More than two dozen of the area's top bands will be on hand to deliver a day-long music festival, along with the amazing performances that accompany every great concert.
It's more than affordable: just $12 for a full day ticket, with discounts for students, children, and for folks who are just attending part of the show. The music kicks off at 10:00 am and wraps up at 4:00 with the awards ceremony. Check out the Centerville Band Program site for a complete listing of the bands that will be performing, and a schedule of the day's events.
