When the Arizona Cardinals face the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend, fantasy football owners should feel confident starting each and every Cardinal on their roster. The Cardinals currently own a two-game lead in the NFC West and are riding a two-game winning streak where the team scored a combined 72 points.
General Notes:
Kurt Warner: The Cardinals Pro Bowl quarterback continues to be a blessed man. With the option of throwing to Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin or Steve Breaston, Warner is also consistently finding running back Tim Hightower out of the backfield. Look for Warner to have another big day as he returns to the comfortable confines of the Edward Jones Dome this week.
Larry Fitzgerald: One of two Pro Bowl wideouts in the Cardinals lineup, Fitzgerald has eight touchdown catches so far this season and leads the team with 63 receptions. In 10 games against the Rams, Fitzgerald has caught nine touchdown passes. Last year, he caught 12 passes for 154 yards and a score.
Anquan Boldin: Since returning last week from an ankle injury, the "old" Anquan Boldin was quick to emerge last week against the Seahawks. Boldin caught eight passes for 105 yards. While he's only made it into the end zone once this season, clearly he's back on Warner's radar. Last season in two games versus the Rams, Boldin caught 11 passes for 147 and a touchdown.
NEW ADDITIONS: Worth a look!
Beanie Wells: The first-round draft pick out of Ohio State had his best game as a pro last week. Running for 85 yards and two touchdowns, Wells is just the ticket to providing the Cardinals offense with some balance heading in the key late season contests. Wells also caught two passes out of the backfield, turning one into an impressive 23-yard gain. Wells will have plenty of opportunities against the Rams defense, which is ranked 28th versus the run, and has surrendered 13 rushing touchdowns which is second worst in the league.
Early Doucet: Last year's third-round pick from LSU has been hampered by injuries the last two seasons. But he's starting to see more playing time and has supplanted Jeremy Urban as the team's #4 receiver. While that doesn't normally amount to much, in the Cardinals' pass-happy offense, it's a significant role. Doucet has been targeted seven times in the last two games and provides an effective option should any other Cardinal receiver go down in the final seven games of the season.
