Having brunch at the Catamaran Resort Hotel's Atoll Restaurant will make you feel like you're on a vacation even if you live in Mission Beach or Pacific Beach and pass by the bay front patio every day on your run. The winner of San Diego Magazine's People Choice Award for "Best Sunday Brunch" in 1998, 1999 and 2006, the Atoll sits serenely on Mission Bay, making it hard to decide whether the view or the food is more appetizing.

Although the Catamaran Resort Hotel's Atoll Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, lunch and dinner, the best way to imagine you are on vacation while remaining in Mission Beach is to head over to the Atoll for brunch on Sunday. Served from 10:00am to 2:00pm, you can even sleep the morning away like you would on a bona fide vacation.

Your first stop at the Atoll brunch is the Fruit and Create-Your-Own Salad Bar, which features Assorted Fresh Fruit, Cheese Display, Assorted Grilled Peppers, Grilled Asparagus, Mixed Greens, Spinach, Assorted Humus Platter, Rolls with Butter and an Assortment of Breakfast Pastries. Those wanting to keep it healthy can continue on to the Various Chef's Salads station. which features Salmon Salad, Waldorf Salad, Chicken and Curry Salad, Tomato and Mozzarella Salad, Shrimp Salad and Cole Slaw.

The Grill Station at the Catamaran Resort Hotel's Atoll Restaurant is a Mexican spin on the traditional brunch staple, as beef, chicken and fish are served with hot tortillas, fresh salsas, guacamole and sour cream, enabling diners to create their own tacos or burritos. The Seafood Display features an array of creatures of the sea: Cocktail Shrimp, Crab Claws, Chilled Mussels, Poached Salmon, Smoked Salmon with Locks, Smoked Clams and Home Made Quiche. In addition, sushi is made to order at the Sushi Bar. Spicy Tuna Roll, anyone?

Although the preparation may vary by seasons and week to week, the Hot Items section of the Atoll brunch features piping hot Eggs Benedict, Bacon and Sausage, Blintz, Lamb, Clams and Mussels, Potatoes, Pasta, Pork, Italian Sausage and Steamed Vegetables. Although you may be too stuffed for dessert, the Dessert Bar at the Atoll offers sweet treats like Berry Cobbler, Creme Brule, Brownies, Cookies and other types of pies and cakes and flavors of ice cream that vary.
