One of the things that we forget about the 49ers is their commitment to helping the community. Over the years, the 49ers have been nothing but amazing when it comes to serving the community in which they represent.

Earlier this week, the 49ers honored Mother's Day by teaming with CityTeam Ministries at the House of Grace, non-profit recovery program where addicted, abused or homeless women can rebuild their lives without being separated from their children. I have done some volunteer help with places like the House of Grace and it is a true blessing to be with so many loving people. Even though sometimes you might not be able to provide everything they need, just a little something goes a long way.

Along with some players, the coaches and the players' wives joined in on a very eventful day. The wives provided makeup and hair styling. Led by professional hair stylist Elizabeth Smith (wife of Alex Smith), it seemed like a very special experience for everybody.

“This is really important for me to come out here and do this because for me, mothers are so important. My mother means the world to me,” said Elizabeth Smith. “These women have had a little rough patch in their lives and they’ve had the opportunity to rebuild this relationship with their children. And to me, I think that a relationship between a mother and a child is very important. Mother’s Day is a celebration of a mother and a child, and this is a very good opportunity for them to spend some quality time together and for us to pamper them in honor of that.”

Alex Smith and the rest of the players took part in playing with children and building crafts for the mothers. With volunteer assistance with the San Jose City College School of Cosmetology, the event turned out to be a blast for all involved. 49ers players and wives included Alex and Elizabeth Smith, Adam and Erika Snyder, Eric and Emily Heitmann, Andy and Rachel Lee, Shaun Hill and his girlfriend Ashton, Vernon Davis and Tony Wragge. 49ers Coaches wives, Kim Singletary and Shereese Carlisle, also played a helping hand throughout the day.  Coach Singletary’s daughter, Jill, also attended the event.

Even though the team is working hard to prepare for a very exciting off-season, it's still great that the team can still help give back to the community.

And don't forget to give your mom a call on Sunday folks! Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
