As some of you know, Boston College DT BJ Raji is scheduled to visit the 49ers on Monday. According to a report on Niners Nation, there actually is a big handful of other players that will or have visited the 49ers.
QB: Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, Mike Reilly
RB: Chris "Beanie" Wells, Knowshon Moreno, Andre Brown, Donald Brown
WR: Michael Crabtree
OL: Michael Oher, Andre Smith
DL: BJ Raji, Jarron Gilbert, Tyson Jackson, Ziggy Hood, Pierre Walters
LB: Rey Maualuga
DB: William Moore, Patrick Chung, Greg Toler
This pretty much is a list of all potential the prospects the 49ers will be considering with their first pick and possibly their second pick. We've documented the stories of some of these prospects.
On Sunday, I pointed out that quarterback Mark Sanchez's chance of being drafted by the 49ers is not likely. Also, I am pretty sure we're aware of BJ Raji's drug issues from the Combine. Other than players like Greg Toler and Andre Brown, the 49ers will also entertain Michael Crabtree and my pick for Examiner's Mock Draft Andre Smith.
The 49ers and Josh Freeman would be a nice pairing. Even though I've suggested that the 49ers should avoid drafting a quarterback with their first pick, if their second pick allows them to acquire Freeman, it should be something the team should consider. Also, the team is looking for a backup to Frank Gore. I like both Beanie Wells and Knowshon Moreno.
At least now, the 49ers are keeping their options open with all these visits. But also, this gives other teams little to no clue as to what direction the team will go on Draft day. Let's hope that one of these guys truly impresses the team and becomes a star for the 49ers in the future.
