Extinction: Artists Respond
Artists responses are blooming at the Botanic Gardens.

To support the current dino-riffic exhibit "Jurassic Gardens: Evolution and Extinction", the Denver Botanic Gardens talked Ivar Zeile, owner of Plus Gallery and Simon Zalkind, curator of Singer Gallery to jury a show featuring Colorado artists.

The end result of all their hard work is "Extinction: Artitsts Respond," a introspective look into the concepts, problems and issues of our ultimate finality.

Dang-o. That some heavy stuff. I guess hanging out in beautiful gardens all day would bum me out too. I understand you Botanic Gardens, lets go get a giant beer.

There will be both traditional two-dimensional work, as well as three-dimensional works, installations, paintings, stone sculptures, and quite possibly a cow carcass, all displayed within the fragrant confines of the exquisite Gates Garden Court gallery.

The seventeen deep-thinking Colorado artists chosen to exhibit are: Adam Ambro, Sandy Applegate, Jacintha Clark, Jerry De La Cruz, Andrew Dufford, Naomi Edelberg Janches, Sharon Feder, Veronica Franklin, Ilona Fried, Patti Hallock, Amorette Lana, Lee Lee, Jeff Page, Jerry Rhodes, Regan Rosburg, Dawn Siebel and Robert Spellman.

Opening reception is this Thursday, May 28th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm, where you can meet the artists showing, and ask them deep questions about how survive the impending apocalypse . Come and drink a fancy drink with me,  amongst the fancy plants and flowers of the Botanical Gardens. And we can look at art too.

The exhibition is free with regular admission and runs through July 26, 2009.
