Ferbenlaare, 2005, by Daniel Richter
(Courtesy Contemporary Fine Arts, Berlin)
Punk rock contemporary German painter Daniel Richter is scheduled to speak tonight, in anticipation of his first state-side museum exhibition.

Richter cut his teeth designing posters, flyers and album covers for punk bands in the 1980s, then went to 'real art school' in Hamburgm, where they most likely beat all the sense of wonder and mystery out of him.

You won't notice it though, not in works like WUTANG, and Ferbenlaare, large-format paintings dripping with graffiti, and mass-media inspired constructs.

His full exhibit, Daniel Richter: A Major Survey, is to be displayed in the Anschutz Gallery, located in the museum's (new) Hamilton Building from October 4, 2008 thorough January 11, 2009.

Tonight, September 4th
Logan Lecture: Daniel Richter

7 pm (doors open at 6 pm)
