Parents of students in Louisville's Catholic high schools who have learning differences and are ready to check out college options will want to attend Accommodate 2009. This annual program sponsored by the Archdiocesan Office of Lifelong Formation and Education provides an opportunity for parents and students to meet with representatives from various colleges and universities to learn more about their programs for supporting students with documented learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders.
Louisville's Catholic elementary and high schools work hard to meet the needs of students with a wide variety of academic strengths and weaknesses. This includes working to support students with special learning needs. Some incorrectly assume that when a student goes to college, these services are no longer available, but this is not true. Legally, all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, must provide appropriate accommodations for students whose learning differences are documented by a test report from a licenced clinical psychologist.
Accommodate 2009 provides a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to begin making appropriate college choices. It will take place this year on Thursday, November 12 at Trinity High School from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., and no registration is required. For further information, call the Archdiocese at 502-448-8581.
