Ok, so the event is actually "Bowling for Equality". But, I have my ticket to participate, and "sucking" aptly describes me bowling!
The Human Rights Campaign in Florida is throwing a bowling event to encourage more memberships.
When? Saturday, November 7th, at 2pm – 5pm.
Where? 1453 Pasadena Ave S, in South Pasadena, Florida at Ten Pin Lanes.
The cost is the price of an annual membership to HRC: $35.00 online, or $40.00 at the door.
I’ve been told this is an annual event, although this will be my first time trying it out. A nice thing about the “Bowling for Equality” day is I don’t think I'll be sucking for equality by myself. A friend who states I cannot bowl worse than she does is going to join me, so it should be a fun night for a good cause.
The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest organization working for GLBT rights. And, the work continues! Last November, I was rather crushed when discrimination was written into Florida’s Constitution with the passage of Amendment 2, and Proposition 8 was passed in California that actually took away a civil right of gays and lesbians! But, time is on our side because minds are opening up. Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and Vermont now issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. New Hampshire will begin issuing them in January.
Well, the weather is cool and lovely right now in Tampa Bay. There are fun things to do and memories to be made this fall. Molly (the cat I belong to) is certainly enjoying the fair weather when she goes out on the lanai. The coolness hasn’t entirely put the brakes on her ability to find occasional lizards to bring inside to play with. She doesn’t care one whit about my thoughts about politics, human rights, or other cares I have about where life is heading. She may be a little more evolved than I am; she simply cares about the here and now.
I digress... here is the link with some information about "Bowling for Equality":
