Born in St Joseph, Mo., Sharon Janis was the eldest of four children. Her mother worked at clerical jobs and as as seamstress, her father as a railroad switchman, a farmer, and a carpenter. Sharon has held a variety of jobs, including a brief stint as a music teacher, a computer operator, and most recently a help desk representative for a software company. She enjoys politics, activism, self help, softball, and has a passion for equality. She currently lives in Oldsmar, Fla., with her companion Molly, a tortoise shell cat.
