Escape New York, the signature event of the New York Cycle Club, has more than 1,1Escape New York riders fueling up at '08 event, Photo by Javier Fraga00 riders signed up in advance -- a 60 % jump over last year, according to ENY chair Ellen Jaffee.

Not registered yet? You're still welcome. Day-of registration gets underway at  7 a.m. for the 100-mile option, 8 a.m. for the 65 mile option, and 9 a.m. for the 50-mile option. The site: Sakura Park at Riverside Drive and 122d Street in Manhattan. Day of event cost: $50.

The routes take cyclists over the George Washington Bridge to some gorgeous lightly-trafficked roads in northern New Jersey and New York's Rockland County. The after-party, including Manganaro's heroes and a flat-fixing contest, starts at Sakura Park about 12:30 p.m. and culminates at 4 p.m. in the drawing for prizes, including a new Trek Madone and a VBT trip to Tuscany with airfare included
