School is out, banks are closed, there will be no mail.  It's Veteran's day! Looking for a way to spend the day, give some thanks to those who've served, or simply keep the kids busy for a bit?  Here is a list of things to do in Mesa and surrounding areas on Wednesday, Nov 11th, 2009.

11:00am, Mesa Veteran's Parade.  A longstanding Mesa Tradition, featuring High School marching bands, military organizations, floats, performers, marching units, local dignitaries, and others.  Billed as "the Valley's Liveliest Veteran's Parade" the parade commences at Center and 3rd Place and ends at Center and 1st St.

1:00pm, Veteran Invasion, a kid friendly event happening in the Theater District of Mesa Riverview.  Children will particularly enjoy the GI Joe Obstacle course, and the Arnold Society Precision Drill Competition.  Other events at the area include the Arizona Veterans Memorial Art Competition, live bands, local vendors, and area non-profit displays.

4:00pm, The Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetary will hold a Veteran's Day Commemoration ceremony and dedicate the new "Wall of Peace" memorial.  An honor guard and music will be a part of the ceremony.

8:30 Music at Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar and Grill" featuring Trailer Choir, Hairforce, Coal Train, and Nate Williams Band
