Steven Spielberg is most probably the best known director and producer in the world. He has conjured up movies that are blockbusters, critic’s darlings, and most importantly movies that do well at the box office. Spielberg’s name next to a movie is almost a guarantee of success; well, as much of a guarantee that you can get in Hollywood.
On December 9, 2009, the Anti-Defamation League in Los Angeles is honoring Steven Spielberg at their annual fundraiser. The event is going to be held at the Beverly Hilton hotel and American Idol’s Adam Lambert is one of the performers for the night.
The award will ne presented by the ADL national executive director, Abraham Foxman, who hailed Spielberg as “a true champion of human rights.” More information can be found at Variety.
Steven Spielberg has brought as such films as ‘Amistad,’ ‘Saving Private Ryan,’ ‘The Color Purple,’ ‘Schindler’s List,’ ‘E.T,’ ‘Jaws,’ and ‘Munich.’ Time magazine also named him the most influential figure in the history of the last 3rd of 20th Century cinema.
The ADL (Anti-Defamation League) fights anti-Semitism and all sorts of bigotry in the United States and abroad. They were responsible for Walt Disney changing his Jewish peddler character in ‘The Three Little Pigs’ to the wolf.
