Recruiting Jack Nicholson to star with Morgan Freeman in 'Dirty Old Men'

Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman are both great actors and they have a chemistry in movies similar to that of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Granted, Lemmon and Matthau starred in numerous movies together and had a certain symmetry that can never be replaced but Nicholson and Freeman definitely came close in ‘The Bucket List.’
Reuters is reporting that Morgan Freeman has signed on to star in a new movie titled, ‘Dirty Old Men,’ as the best friend and wingman of a lifelong bachelor, who falls in love for the first time. Morgan’s character does everything in his power to break up the couple. This sounds like it could be an extremely funny movie; and one that should be vehicled by Jack Nicholson as the best friend. Warner Brothers is actively hoping that Nicholson will sign on to the movie but nothing has been reported as yet.
Jack Nicholson plays an excellent ‘older gentleman’ bachelor. He has that certain ‘joie de vivre’ that makes him so likeable, even as a cad. He did so in ‘As Good As It Gets,’ and ‘Something’s Got to Give,’ and would make an excellent addition to ‘Dirty Old Men.’
Morgan Freeman will be next seen starring as Nelson Mandela in ‘Invictus’ with Matt Damon. The trailer was recently released and already Oscar buzz is surrounding the movie. His other upcoming movies are ‘Red,’ and ‘The Last Full Measure.’
