You have a 3-6 team in Plum looking for an upset of pwerhouse Gateway who is undefeated and arguably the best AAAA team in the Western Pennsylvania area.
There is Bethel Park looking to retain its title coming in as the third seed in quad A, and Clarton in Class A has allowed just under five points per game.
But perhaps the best matchup of the week is another team with a sub .500 record in Penn Hills against Upper St. Clair. Both defenses are on equal par allowing just over 17 points per game, but the Panthers have the edge when it comes to offense as they have put up 27.2 points per game under the gudence of quarterback Alex Park.
Below is the pairings for the opening round of the 2009 WPIAL playoffs.
