WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington & Jefferson College football team is ranked in three different polls as it prepares for the second half of its 2009 season.

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 poll has W&J (5-0, 2-0 PAC) as its No. 7 team for the second-straight week. W&J dipped one spot to No. 9 in this week’s D3football.com Top 25 poll.

The ECAC released its first Lambert Meadowlands Division III Football Poll presented by FieldTurf Tarkett on Tuesday and W&J is the No. 2 ranked squad behind Wesley (5-0).

To be eligible for the Lambert Meadowlands Award, a school must be located in the East or play at least half of its schedule against eligible Lambert teams. The territory includes New York, New Jersey, New England and Pennsylvania, while teams in the bordering states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and the District of Columbia qualify if at least half of their schedule features eligible teams.

Teams in Eastern-based football conferences, regardless of location, qualify if at least half their schedule is against Lambert eligible teams. The top five teams in the AFCA and D3football.com national rankings are the same.

W&J and Thomas More (5-0, 3-0 PAC) will square off at Cameron Stadium on October 31st (1:30 pm) in a rematch of last year’s 35-29 Saints’ victory which determined the conference championship
