Antoinette McCollough made 21 kills to lead Chowan to the CIAA volleyball championship by defeating Fayetteville University in five sets at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton Sunday.

The Lady Hawks (29-8) won 17-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 15-11.

The championship was significant because this is the first year that the school was eligible to compete as a full-fledged member of the CIAA.

Chowan's Karina Monroe was name tournament MVP with 15 kills and eight blocks.

Regular season MVP Chekimbrell Jefferson had 21 kills pace the Lady Broncos (20-9).

Chowan received the CIAA's automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs against a team to be determined.
