Nicole Parks-Powell took advantage of a missed shot on goal and drove the ball in for the only score as Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Prairie View 1-0 in the SWAC women's soccer championship in Itta Bena, Mississippi Sunday.

The Lady Panthers put numerous shots on goal, but could not get past UAPB goalkeeper Chelsea Klein, who made eight saves in a semifinal game against Jackson State Saturday.

Jade West, the Offensive Player of the Year, was named tournament MVP.  West scored on an assist from Shannon Ellis to stop Jackson State 1-0.

Prairie View earned a trip to the championship by upsetting top seed Grambling 2-1 Saturday.  Yosselyn Aguilar scored an unassisted goal and Abigail Escobar connected off an assist from Marissa Woods.

The Golden Lions earned an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs against a team to be determined during Monday's selection show.
