Stephanie Harper nailed a three-pointer with 26.3 seconds left to help the Lady Thorobreds of Kentucky State hold off IUPUI, 65-63, in an exhibition game at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Tuesday.
Jessica Green made one of two free throws a few seconds later to ice the victory over the Lady Jaguars.
Statistically, the game belonged to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. The Lady Jaguars outrebounded Kentucky State 38-35, shot 51.2 percent from the floor to the Lady Thorobreds' 32.8 percent and blocked 12 shots.
Kentucky State, on the other hand, dominated defensively, forcing 34 turnovers for 32 points. Of their 35 rebounds, 18 were on the offensive glass. They also had 15 steals.
Kiarra Morgan led Kentucky State with 20 points and eight rebounds. Shana McCombs added 14 points and Latrice Watkins had 12 points.
Mariah Fleming paced IUPUI with 16 points and Jessica Huffman added 13 points.
The game, which was close all the way, featured 11 ties and six lead changes.
Kentucky State will open its regular season Nov. 17 against Bellarmine University at 6:30 p.m. in Frankfort.
