Sophomore Brianna Taylor scored 11 points and Teanusha Robinson and Bianca Lee added 10 points apiece, but it wasn't nearly enough to challenge the Lady Terrapins of Maryland in an exhibition game at the Comcast Center in College Park Wednesday.
Maryland defeated the Lady Bulldogs 90-48.
Flodysha Peterson had seven rebounds and Robinson added six for Bowie State, but, like their teammates, were smothered by the unrelenting defense of ACC powerhouse Maryland. Robinson only hit five of her 18 shots as Bowie State barely hit 25 percent of their field goals for the game.
Tianna Hawkins, a freshman, started her college career with a double-double, leading Maryland and all players with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Kim Rodgers added 18 for the Lady Terps, who shot 47.8 percent from the floor and outrebounded Bowie State 63-36.
Bowie State opens the regular season Nov. 15 against Gannon University at the Clarion Classic in Clarion, Pennsylvania.
Maryland will finish its exhibition schedule next Tuesday against Catholic and then start the regular season Nov. 14 against North Carolina Central.
