American Honda Motor Company announced that eight bands from historically black colleges and universities, including seven-time veteran Tuskegee, will compete in the 2010 showcase in Atlanta in January.
The eight schools -- Albany State, Clark Atlanta, Florida A&M, North Carolina Central, Prairie View A&M, Southern, Tuskegee and Virginia State -- were among 45 schools that entered competition three months ago for the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase. They will compete against each other January 30, 2010 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
This is the eighth year of the showcase. Each of the eight schools chosen receives $20,000 towards scholarships to advance music education.
