Prairie View A&M made school history when it earned its first season appearance in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS or Division 1-AA) polls.
The Panthers (5-1, 5-0), who sat just outside the rankings for the past few weeks since defeating Grambling in the State Fair Classic, are no. 25 in The Sports Network FCS Top 25 poll. They accumulated 269 points and are tied with Colgate. The ranking marked Prairie View's first time in the top 25 during the season. The Panthers finished 9-1 last year and were ranked no. 25 in The Sports Network's end-of-season poll.
Prairie View is currently ranked second behind South Carolina State in the weekly Sheridan Black College Football Poll, administered by the Sheridan Broadcasts Network. SC State is tenth in the FCS poll.
Meanwhile, in the AFCA Division II Coaches Poll, Albany State fell from eighth to 14th after its close loss to Tuskegee last weekend. Tuskegee moved up to 16th from 19th.
