The baseball Examiners at Examiner.com have voted on all the same postseason awards that the BBWAA vote on each year. We will slowly be releasing our results over the next few weeks. The MVP award for each league was the first and now we hit the Cy Young award winners.
In the National League Tim Lincecum wins in a voting that was far from unanimous.
In the American League Zack Greinke wins with nine of the 11 first place votes.
Here is how I voted:
NL Cy Young
1. Tim Lincecum
2. Adam Wainwright
3. Chris Carpenter
My voting is pretty much nails on how the voting turned out. TIMMAY!! Wins and Wainright and Carpenter are second and third or third and second. I give the edge to Wainwright over Carpenter because of the difference in innings pitched and strikeouts. I like my pitchers to throw a lot and not allow opposing batters to even put the ball in play. I figure that is a good recipe for pitching success, right?

AL Cy Young
1. Zack Greinke
2. Felix Hernandez
3. CC Sabathia
The top two pitchers in the American League were both studs on teams that get little recognition and the fact that they get the love shows how good they are. Alex Brown does a good job summarizing the phenomenal year that Greinke had on a very poor team in 2009 and if you look at King Felix, he is not far behind.
I am a big fan of Justin Verlander too, as witnessed in my MVP ballot but Freddy Garcia? Someone should remove all voting privileges from the White Sox Examiner ASAP! He only tossed 56 innings in 2009; he shouldn’t get a sniff of any sort of award.
Next year Ubaldo Jimenez will make a splash in the Cy Young voting. I guarantee it!
